Us & Them

We call them “them.”

As if the boundary were clear. As if the world were divisible.

Us & Them questions this separation we have constructed between humans and animals — an invisible yet powerful line drawn in the name of progress, comfort, and power. And yet, we share the same earth, the same breath, the same vulnerability in the face of time.

There is, within this series, a quiet unease, a muted nostalgia. The feeling of a lost closeness. The animals appear as silent presences, involuntary witnesses to a world shaped without them, or against them. Innocent, they endure the consequences of a history they did not write.

This work does not seek to oppose, but to reveal the fracture. To question this “we” that we pronounce so easily. Who is included? Who is excluded?

Between guilt and tenderness, distance and a desire for reconciliation, Us & Them opens a fragile space — one where the separation wavers, and where we begin to wonder whether “them” has ever ceased to be a forgotten part of “us.”
